Only in New York City: THE RIDE NYC

theride

On Christmas Eve, my family and I ventured into NYC for a day of holiday sight-seeing. We started at the tree at Rockefeller Center, went by department windows at Sax Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor, went shopping at Bryant Park market and idled in the fantastic lobby at the Algonquin Hotel. The Ride NYC But we had one thing on our mind: our 4pm reservation on THE RIDE NYC. I had a feeling it would be inclusive of everything I love most in life. For example, NYC is my oasis. I've lived here for years but never tire of the buzz this city radiates. Read More

MOTHERSTRUCK! at NYC Culture Project

motherstruck

Last week I was on Facebook and happened to see several posts by women I really admire about a new show they'd seen called MotherStruck! As a frequent theater goer, marketer and producer, I was instantly intrigued. It appeared to be a raw, honest show about motherhood starring a single Jamaican poet named Staceyann Chin living in Brooklyn. Motherstruck! The show is also directed by Cynthia Nixon and produced by Rosie O'Donnell, two women I admire immensely, particularly for the contributions to NYC theater they have both made over the years. I Read More

Review: “School of Rock” on Broadway

schoolofrock

When my 11 year-old son asked me to take him to see School of Rock on Broadway, I was both surprised and thrilled. I haven't taken him to a show since 2010, when I took my cue at Stomp, when his sensorial issues took over. It was a combination of being over stimulated and noise that were just too much for him. But he loved the movie this show is based on - so much so that he's watched it several times on Netflix. Somehow during the summer he took note of its pending Broadway arrival, as did I with Andrew Lloyd Webber's name attached, and we both Read More

They are still learning their limitations and capabilities and it's impossible to make a difficult decision. What is the process to achieve a means Flight School, The Musical Flight School, The Musical, now playing at the Vital Theatre in NYC, will Read More

Guest Post: Big Apple Circus Review

bigapplecircus

Guest writer Liat Ginsberg is a mother and former journalist for the Israeli newspaper, Maariv. She taught at the Film and Media Department at Hunter College. You know a show is child-approved when your own kids tell you in the middle that it's amazing. When my kids did this very thing in the middle of Big Apple Circus, I knew it was worth the trip into the city to catch the show at Lincoln Center. I also knew it was a great choice by the happy adults in the audience. If you think to yourself, “Oh, I took my kids last year to the circus, it’s probably Read More

We just love them. I was inspired to write this post because the NYC Dumpling Festival 2015 is headed our way. The Dumping Festival will be held on the First Ever National Dumpling Day, which is very exciting. If you're looking for a good batch of dumplings in New York City, we've done the research. Indulging the Kids on Broadway with Sugartooth Tours

littlepie

I've been living in the NYC metro area for a long time now, but I've never fully experienced the sweeter side of the city. So when my kids and I were invited to join Sugartooth Tours on their newest tour, Bright Lights & Broadway Bites, I was intrigued. Broadway + desserts + a guide who's an actual Broadway performer = right up my alley. If you read my blog regularly, you probably know I'm theater obessessed and I love taking my kids all over NYC, so this tour was an excuse to indulge my Broadway fixation and their sweets obsession. When I told my Read More

Hanging Out in Coney Island & Brighton Beach

lunapark

Last week my family and I went for a day out at the shore in Coney Island and Brighton Beach. A long time favorite haunt of ours, I was eager for a dose of this very Southern part of Brooklyn. These coastal towns may have a kitsch way about them, but they are some of the most uniquely fun parts of the five boroughs. After enduring a bit of traffic to get there, we finally found ourselves on Surf Avenue, in the heart of it all.  Our first stop: Luna Park (Surf Ave at W 10 St; 718-373-5862, lunaparknyc.com. $35 for four hours of unlimited rides on Read More
