I am thrilled to be announcing my involvement with a new event called DoGoodCon. I’m always looking for ways to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, and how to translate that potential into action and this is one.
DoGoodCon is a CONFEST (not a conference!) celebrating social entrepreneurs who are embracing a for-profit business model with a built-in social mission. The speakers, panelists and vendors represent a variety of industries – Design, Education, Entertainment, Food, Film, Finance, and more!
I will be speaking on a panel at the event about my social good initiatives (which, of course, you will want to attend). After the Women in the World conference early last year, and hearing Hillary Clinton call all women ”fearless … committed … and audacious,” I formed relationships with Save the Children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and I’m now on the board of Mothers and More, which is really exciting. I’m also working closely with Mothers2Mothers to end pediatric AIDS.
What is Do Good Con and why should you attend? Because you want to cause change in the world by using your voice! Learn more here:
DoGoodCon is about meaningful connection in our work, to our community and to each other. But most particularly it’s about figuring out a way to make our life’s work out of doing what we love and helping others along the way. Those people who choose this path are social entrepreneurs.
DoGoodCon is a celebration (or confest/anti-conference) of for-profit social entrepreneurship. It’s a celebration of the people out there who are creatively solving the problems of homelessness, poverty, global warming, whatever. It’s about the people who are taking risks and coming up with innovative approaches to these problems.
The goal for this Confest is to create an intimate event that allows for meaningful connection, and ultimately the hope is that more than a few of the aspiring social entrepreneurs who attend will leave the the event with the ideas, examples and connections they need to go out in the world and execute their own projects. You’ll leave with the tools you need to create meaningful campaigns and make a real difference in the world. The stories will inspire and motivate you.
