New York City Festival Weekend 9/24-9/26

There are a lot fantastic festivals going on in NYC this weekend.  Check out what’s happening here:

9/24-9/26 The DUMBO Arts Festival —  features more than 500 local and international artists — will offer many fun-filled family activities during a weekend of arts festivities.  Where: 45 Main St. between Water St. and Front St., Brooklyn.

9/25 11am-4pm  The New York Restoration Project (NYRP), in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and New Yo/wp-admin/post.php?post=798&action=editrk City Council Member Robert Jackson, presents the annual Little Red Lighthouse Festival along the banks of the Hudson River. This year’s festival will shine a light (green light, of course!) on music and the arts. Where: Northern Manhattan’s Fort Washington Park.

9/26 10am-6pm The 36th annual Atlantic Antic, to be held September 26, 2010, is an event not to be missed! On this beautiful fall Brooklyn day, the Atlantic Antic draws up to 1 million attendees onto Atlantic Avenue to celebrate the Antic’s longstanding tradition of eclectic food, festivities, and fun! From start to finish, Atlantic Avenue is a sea of people exploring a variety of 600 vendors while grooving to music from nine live performance stages.

The 28th Queen County Fair, September 25th-26th, A traditional county fair with blue ribbon competitions in livestock, produce, home crafts, arts and crafts, and more. Enjoy the Amazing Maize Maze, pie-eating and corn-husking contests, Big Apple Circus Variety Acts, make-your-own-scarecrow, hayrides, petting zoo, carnival rides, and midway. Visit their Bavarian Garden , Irish and German bands, craft and food vendors.


The 84th Annual Feast of San Gennaro, New York City’s longest-running, biggest and most revered religious outdoor festival in the United States, will be held through Sunday, September 26, 2010, on the streets of historic Little Italy.  Though this is an annual celebration of faith, the Feast of San Gennaro is known the world over for its festive atmosphere, an 11-day event featuring religious processions and colorful parades, free musical entertainment every day, a wide variety of ethnic food delicacies, charming restaurants and cafes and even a world-famous cannoli-eating competition!

Family Affair: Viva La Vida! is a centennial celebration of the Mexican Revolution, taking place on Saturday, September 25th from 1-4pm.  It includes family-friendly music, food and more.

Smithsonian Magazine’s Sixth Annual Museum Day, Saturday, September 25th at noon, celebrates art and the human spirit at select museums around the countrywithout charge.

New York City Apple Day: Apples on Orchard, Sunday, September 26th, from 11am-5pm.
