Join me on Tuesday from 1pm-2pm EST when I join a Baby Bites panel of parents for a round table discussion on Helicopter Parenting vs. Free-Range Parenting and Public vs. Private Education. I was invited by my friend, Elise, over at Baby Bites, and I’m quite honored. I’ll be joining my friend and colleague, Jen Rabulan-Bertram from one of my favorite sites, Next Kid Thing as special guests.
For me, these are two topics that are always on the forefront of my mind, particularly after having just finished The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother. After discussing the book at length with my book club, I have definite opinions of my own parenting styles (and how often my kids should and do practice the piano) but I have reasons for why I parent the way I do and look forward to talking about it. As for education, I am a big public school proponent but see the need for private education in some cases, depending on the child. We held our own son back last year and put in private school. Now he is in public school, and there are pro’s and con’s for each.
