I’ve talked about this before and I’ll talk about it again, but the NYC New York Botanical Garden’s annual Holiday Train Show is always a highlight of our holiday season. It has become a special and memorable experience for all of us. When our kids were babies, their eyes popped out at all the moving trains buzzing around the room. As toddlers, they started to chase the trains and watch the lights flashing around the room. Now that they’re entering tweendom, on a recent visit they began to ask about the incredible landmarks scattered through the exhibit and they started to “ooh” and “aah” the remarkable displays as much as we do. The holiday season wouldn’t be the same for any of us without the Botanical Garden’s Train Show.
The experience is a one and only. You and your kids will marvel at the charming model trains and New York City landmark replicas, stroll the spectacular grounds, decorate (and eat!) gingersnaps, break for lunch and hot chocolate, and explore other parts of the garden while you’re there.
Within the enchanting setting of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, model trains zip over bridges and past replicas of New York landmarks made of plant parts such as nuts, bark, and leaves. Show favorites include the original Yankee Stadium, Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn Bridge.
This season, they’re starting something new at the Gardens. You can enjoy a night out and an evening viewing of the Holiday Train Show–and do your holiday shopping, too! Sip a complimentary champagne cocktail and get expert advice from Shop in the Gardenstaff who will help you find just the right gifts. Your ticket includes a voucher for $20 off a purchase of $100 or more. This will take place on Thursdays, December 1, 8, & 15, 6–8 p.m.
The show is truly a New Yorker’s defining moment, and the experience will just add to the pride that you have in this incredible city that we live in. And now, right here on the Culture Mom, you can enter to win FOUR tickets to theNYC Botanical Garden’s Annual Train Show!

The Train Show at the Gardens is such a special event, pure holiday magic. I know all three of my kids would be thrilled to go, but I would especially love to see my little guy’s eyes light up at the sight of it all.
