Karito Kids International Travel Charmers collection

Yesterday we were in NYC and stopped in FAO Schwartz.  I made a vow to my daughter that we were just going in for a look around and since her birthday just passed, there would be no gift buying.  However, we came across an absolutely irresistible purchase.  It’s the Karito Kids International Travel Charmers collection of dolls and books.  These are 16 inch size dolls with embroidered faces and long hair.  Each one wears current fashions inspired by the country she visits, and comes with a collectible charm as a souvenir of her trip. The charm can be added to a matching Travel Charmers Bracelet.

The other dolls in the collection are:
-Gia from Italy travels to Greece, after a trip to France in 2008.
-Lulu from Kenya travels to Egypt, after a trip to Madagascar in 2008.
-Wan Ling from China travels to Russia, after a trip to Japan in 2008.
-Pita from Mexico travels to Argentina, after a trip to Brazil in 2008.
-The newest Karito Kid, Piper from Australia, travels to Ireland.

I instantly loved the concept and retracted my no-buying policy for the day.  We are going to England next month, so the Zoe doll seemed to be calling my daughter’s name.  She is the doll who just took a trip to Canada in 2008.  My daughter took an immediate liking to her.  She’s dressed like a little hipster.

I lso like the dolls, not only because of their travel angle, but because a  portion of each purchase goes to help others. Using the online code included with every doll, kids can visit KaritoKids.com and choose to direct the donation from their purchase to one of four causes: school, home, health or food.

Kids can also earn additional World Change™ they can donate to others by visiting the Karito Kids website at www.karitokids.com. Points earned playing online games including Piper’s Sea Search and World Matchup can be converted to World Change and donated through the Karito Kids website. No purchase is necessary to access the Karito Kids online games.

The Travel Charmers dolls are safety-tested to U.S. and Canadian standards for children ages 3 and up. The dolls retail for $19.99, and the matching bracelets retail for $8.
