Last night was one of the those quintessential, out-of-this-world NYC nights. I was invited by Starwood Preferred Guest the (Sheraton, Westin, Le Meridien, St Regis, W, etc. chain), who partnered with USTA to provide us with VIP access to watch matches from the SPG Luxury Suite at center court of the U.S. Open.
If you read this blog often, you know this “mom not ready to give up hot dogs” loves special moments. I live for new experiences, and SPG Moments is all about the once in a lifetime moments. From VIP hospitality that includes backstage meet and greets, to meeting musical artists at Music Moments, to cultural moments with access to premieres, opening nights, red carpets, chefs and front row seats, SPG members get perks galore.
With the launch of its 2015 U.S. Open SPG Moments, SPG members get access like no other to the games, with great seats, behind-the-scenes tours of Arthur Ashe Stadium, hitting sessions on the court, breakfast for two in the Player’s Dining Room, the chance to win a post-match press conference or media tour, giveaways and talent meet & greets.
SPG members get invited to experience special moments in time, and I was invited to do just that. I hadn’t been to the U.S. Open in a few years and it was an honor to be invited by this esteemed travel brand. The U.S. Open is the highest-attended annual sporting event in the world and SPG gave me an inside look at what it means to be a member. From the moment we entered the suite, full of good company, delicious food and amazing seats. We watched two champs take it home. Venus Williams beat Irina Falconi. Novak Djokovic beat Andreas Haider-Maurer. There were other perks of having box seats. When we spotted members of One Direction in the video screens above our heads, I could see two members of the band through a pair of binoculars.
It was also impressive to learn more about Starwood Preferred Guest, an innovative, award-winning frequent traveler program that unites each of Starwood’s 10 distinctive hotel brands and includes more luxury hotels in more destinations around the world. SPG reinvented the hospitality loyalty landscape when it launched in 1999 with its breakthrough policy of no blackout dates, and over the years has continued its tradition of innovation with enhancements such as Cash + Points, SPG MomentsSM, and most recently Your24™ and SPG Lifetime™. In addition to Free Night Awards at more than 1,200 hotels and resorts and Award Flights on over 350 major airlines without blackout dates, the Starpoints® that members earn through SPG can be redeemed for access like no other to experiences in music, sports and the arts through SPG Moments.
SPG also offers the opportunity for meeting and travel professionals to earn rich rewards including Starpoints and elite status through SPG Pro. SPG also has an ongoing commitment to digital innovation to meet the needs of today’s connected global traveler – from the SPG app for iPhone that utilizes state-aware technology to create a more personalized hotel stay to Starwood’s Best Rate Guarantee on SPG.com, to SPG’s integration within various social media platforms. Offerings such as these have helped SPG build a passionate member base among the world’s most frequent travelers. That’s SPG in a nutshell. It was an honor to hang out with their team and soak up the vibe at the U.S. Open.
