A Day Out in Luna Park on Coney Island

We spent last Sunday afternoon at the new Luna Park, a new 3.1-acre amusement park on the site of the old Astroland, featuring 19 rides.  The original Luna Park was one of the three great amusement parks of the early 20th century, the other two being Steeplechase and Dreamland.  The new park features the Cyclone and Wagon Wheel.  It’s right near the legendary Nathan’s Hot Dogs, where you can grab a cheap lunch.  It’s also right off the boardwalk.  You can easily spend a day on the beach, in the NY Aquarium and end up at Luna Park. I don't know about you but the thought of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum Baily Circus that I grew up with combined with the Coney Island experience sounds incredibly appealing, not only for my kids but for me.  After all, it's one of my favorite NYC getaways.  I love walking on the boardwalk, munching on Russian food, visiting the NY Aquarium, going to the beach and I can't wait to go to the new Luna Park this summer.
