Last night I went to a preview of the new Disney Pixar film, BRAVE. The event was graciously hosted by Visit Scotland. I didn't take my nine year-old daughter. It was a busy day in the city and I didn't have time to get home to bring her into the city. But this is a film that I want her to see, that she has to see, and you had better believe I will be back in the cinema this weekend, with her in tow. Why? Because the character in the film is someone I hope my own daughter to resemble - a strong heroine with a mind of her own. She's … [Read more...]
Product Review: Ridemakerz for Car-Serious Kids
This past Saturday I dragged my husband and kids into the city bright and early, not an easy feat in my house. For one thing, my hubby is english and he likes to call home on Saturday mornings. For another, my family just aren't morning people, none of us really are. On the weekends, we all like time to CHILL OUT. But I was invited to what I thought was going to be quite a special event hosted by Disney and I was quite demanding that we get up and out. And indeed it was worth the early trip in. It was a an event hosted by the folks behind … [Read more...]
Animal Kingdom with Kids
(This article 'Animal Kingdom with Kids' is also featured on TravelingMom.com.) When I started planning our trip to Disney World, I decided that on this trip to all the parks, I had to visit Animal Kingdom. It was the only park I had never visited, and I really didn’t expect it to be as good as it is. After a day in Magic Kingdom, which was really, really crowded due to spring break and Easter weekend, Animal Kingdom was much more manageable and far more enjoyable than I ever imagined. I’m not sure why I doubted for a minute that this park … [Read more...]
A Child-Friendly Timeshare: Wyndham Bonnet Creek
My family and I discovered a true gem of a resort on our current trip to Disney World. The Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort is located 10-15 minutes from all the Disney Parks, Universal Sea World, downtown Disney and is perfect for families of all shapes and sizes. It's not a hotel or even a Disney resort; it's actually a timeshare. It has so much to offer: location, activities, accessibility, spacious rooms, amenities, free shuttle service to all the Disney parks, five pools scattered around the resort, miniature golf, club rooms, an extremely kind … [Read more...]
Tangled isn’t so Tangled After All
My daughter recently outgrew the whole Disney princess phase, which was a phase that I thought lasted a heck of a long time. For a while, I, too, got into it, humming the princess tunes when she wasn't around after we picked up a copy on the way out of Disney World at the airport. Quite frankly, I haven't been very inspired by the last few princess films. I had great hopes for The Princess and the Frog last year, but I fell asleep and wasn't razzle dazzled by that film. I was about to give up on the whole phenomenon.... Until Tangled entered … [Read more...]
