Every year I lead a group of women from my synagogue to the Westchester Jewish Film Festival, and every year it is an amazing experience. This year was no exception. Forty women, including myself, made the trek to Pleasantville to see a film called "Hidden Children," a drama based on a true story about two Jewish boys who survived the Holocaust in France under the care of a Catholic woman. Last night I had the opportunity to see, hear and meet a phenomenal woman, Ruth Gruber. Nearly 100 years old, she has lived the most amazing life. The documentary on her life, "Ahead of Time," kicked off the Jewish Film Festival at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville. It was a wonderful evening. Culture Mom Night Out: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I love movies that keep me gasping for air. The new Swedish version of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is one of those films. The film is based on the international best seller by the late Swedish author Stieg Larsson.The plot involves a journalist who joins forces with a damaged young woman to research the disappearance of a tycoon's favorite niece. I'm really excited about the ninth annual Westchester Jewish Film Festival at the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) in Pleasantville will be held from April 8 through 29th. While I'm looking for work and taking graduate school classes, I have plenty of time on my hands. My kids are in kindergarten and 1st grade, so their time away from home is finally increasing but I can't spend all day trying to get my life back. It's going to take a while.I'm always volunteering.
