Are you thinking of planning a road trip this summer? There is nothing better than a few days of adventures, exploring the country with your closest friends and family. I’m still impressed with the kinds of options that apps offer, especially when it comes to making traveling easier. I just had a negative experience with an app that organizes your itinerary, but I will write about that another time.
Appitalism.com, the mobile app superstore, has put together a list of the top apps to help plan your next open road exploration this summer. Here are a few of their suggestions:
Mileage Meter Lite (Free for the iPhone) – A simple and straight forward way to track mileage incurred for vehicle road trips. Track them using built-in categories or create your own. Each trip can be tracked by date, odometer information, category and trip purpose
FirePin Trip Tracker (Free for the iPhone) - FirePin is a free real-time trip tracker. It uses the built-in GPS to track your locations as you travel. Share it with friends and family so they can see you as a moving pin in real-time on a Google map.
Plate Pursuit ($.99 for the iPhone) - Finally something to make that car ride exciting! Plate Pursuit takes the age-old license plate game to a whole new level. Keep track of all the US license plates during your adventures on the road, while earning bonus points by answering State related trivia questions.
Filler Up (Free for the Android) - Fill ‘er Up is a road trip gas expense calculator. Just enter your trip distance, fuel price, mileage and number of people. Fill ‘er Up will calculate the amount of gas needed for the trip, gas cost as well as cost per person.
Disclosure: I was not compensated to write this post.
This is a good summation of the new apps on the market. This new technology seems to come out on a daily basis.
