No one is picture perfect – not even celebrities – but everyone can get educated on skincare, especially if you suspect you have Rosacea. Rosacea is a condition that I didn’t know very much about until I started working on a MamaDrama campaign involving Rosacea called FACES OF ROSACEA.
Did you know that over 16 million Americans suffer from Rosacea, a vascular condition caused by inflammation with symptoms that include facial redness, pimples and irritation? Yet only 10% of sufferers are being treated! As soon as I heard about it, I started to see women at my children’s school with inflamed skin and it soon became obvious that Rosacea is something that impacts so many of us. When I mentioned to friends that I’m working on this campaign, they were all quick to reveal that they suffer from this skin condition. Yet it is often undiagnosed and not many people know a lot about it or how to treat it.
That is why is so admirable that one of my favorite actresses, Cynthia Nixon from Sex in the City, but who I have seen countless times on stage in Rabbit Hole, Distracted, The Heidi Chronicles and more, is starring in an online public service announcement in honor of Rosacea Awareness Month and is sharing her personal experience with Rosacea for the first time.
